What We Do

Our Mission

  • To support the programs, services, and facilities of the Cecil County Parks & Rec (CCPR) department.

  • To communicate the vital mental & physical health role open park spaces, facilities, and programs have in our community.

  • To be a conduit between the public and the county to advocate for what the public wants in their parks.

  • To establish strong collaborative partnerships with local community organizations.

  • To raise scholarship funds to offset the costs for programs that serve as a barrier to disadvantaged communities.

  • To be good stewards of park lands by improving habitats, park amenities, and equipment through community fundraising efforts.

The Parks and Recreation of Cecil County has done an outstanding job of providing quality of life activities for the residents. In addition, the partnership between Cecil County Parks and Rec and Cecil County Public Schools has benefited students of all ages. The 501c3 Friends organization is an important asset to bringing these efforts to the forefront, making sure people of all ages are able to enjoy Parks and Recs programs and activities.
— Matt Roberts, CCPS Assistant Principal

The FriendsCCPR.org is a 501c3 nonprofit formed to support the programs, services, and facilities of CCPR. We are an all-volunteer Board which works tirelessly to promote CCPR and support community collaboration.

Our Board consistently meets the standards of being a “100% Giving Board.” Meaning, not only do our Board directors volunteer their time, but we also give our treasure. Board giving every year, throughout the year, allows us to fiscally support the causes we care about.

We do our work by adding that margin of excellence to the programs, facilities, and services offered. And we can do it because of the generous gifts of our donors!

The FriendsCCPR.org acts as a conduit between the public needs & desires with county officials is core to our mission. Our strength comes through community partnerships and supporting collaborative efforts with your tax funded agencies such as the Cecil County Public Schools as well as the Cecil County Public Library.

In addition, we work closely with other community service organizations and nonprofits.

The FriendsCCPR.org has current working relationships with the Cecil County Master Gardeners, Kiwanis Club, Lions Club, Elkton Rotary, Youth Empowerment Services (YES), CASA, and many others. If you are a local business, community organization, or member looking to be involved please reach out.
